About Us
Established in 1985, Alderman Engineering is a civil engineering and consulting firm which specializes in the design of water/hydraulics projects - including lakes, ponds, waterfalls, ornamental fountains and other water features. Our projects include golf courses, recreational areas and parks, hotels and resorts, residential developments, apartment and condominium projects, shopping and commercial centers throughout the United States.
In addition to the design of mechanical/pumping systems to produce spectacular water effects, Alderman Engineering systems have successfully achieved excellent water quality and clarity - even when reclaimed (effluent) water is the supply for the ornamental lakes and water features! Our designed affordable, efficient, durable water treatment systems have attained and maintained this excellent water clarity and quality - without the use of toxic chemicals! With today's heightened social awareness of ecological concerns and with the increasingly stringent governmental regulations, these successes by Alderman Engineering are obviously very important.
The purpose of our designs of lakes and other water bodies is to augment their natural ecological systems (i.e., fish aquatic plants, etc.) with efficient, low-energy systems that work together with the natural ecological processes.
In a recent design with our new innovations, Costa Mesa Country Club has had lakes with unprecedented "swimming pool" water clarity and quality! The growth of algae greatly diminished - without chemical treatment being applied to the lakes! Higher aquatic life forms (such as fish) are growing and thriving. The water became clear and sparkling - despite the presence of, and the tremendous nutrient loading by, many duck, coots and other water fowl.
Thus, our designs for water/hydraulics projects provide the following characteristics:
- Efficient, effective, low-energy consumptive pump systems, providing the water flows required for spectacular water effects, resulting in low energy bills.

In addition to new construction projects, Alderman Engineering also designs renovations of existing lakes and water features. A recent example is the design of renovations of the existing lakes at four large regional parks for the County of Orange.
